1. Health, Safety and Environment Policy
The Organization’s Health, Environment, and Safety (HES) Policy aims to establish guidelines for managing health, environmental protection, and workplace safety.
Our goal is to promote HES practices by fostering health, protecting individuals and the environment, controlling and monitoring risks, aligning process safety with best practices, and ensuring the sustainability of projects, services, and products throughout their life cycle—considering economic, environmental, and social impacts and benefits.
The purpose of the Health, Environment, and Safety Policy is to ensure the physical, mental, and social well-being of employees, protect the environment, and preserve the integrity of workers. It seeks to prevent accidents, illnesses, and adverse environmental impacts, aligning with the Organization’s strategic objectives and contributing to sustainable development.
Through this policy, we commit to our clients, partners, employees, suppliers, and society, demonstrating the actions taken by the Organization to collaborate with authorities on these matters.
2. Specific HSE Objectives
The HES Policy unfolds into specific objectives for each area:
- Health: Actions aimed at promoting the physical, mental, and social well-being of employees, ensuring safe and healthy work environments, and preventing health risk factors.
- Environment: Initiatives to minimize environmental impacts, conserve natural resources, promote biodiversity, and encourage sustainable practices across all operations of the Organization.
- Safety: Measures to ensure safe work environments, eliminate hazards, reduce occupational risks, prevent accidents, and foster a culture of responsibility and participation in safety.
3. Environmental Responsibility
We begin with a commitment to environmental responsibility. Our business practices are focused on the rational use of natural resources to ensure environmental preservation.
Engaged in the pursuit of sustainable development, we launched an internal campaign to raise awareness among our employees.
The actions planned as part of this campaign demonstrate our commitment to environmental responsibility. We believe that such measures help minimize the negative impact of our daily activities.
Actions implemented:
- Replaced fluorescent lamps with LED lighting
- Installed timed faucets with water flow reducers
- Eliminated the use of plastic cups throughout the Organization
- Distributed informational stickers promoting good practices in strategic locations such as restrooms, break rooms, and meeting rooms
- Implemented a selective waste collection system within our facilities
Our efforts do not stop here. We are aware that new actions must be continuously implemented in the pursuit of environmental well-being.
4. Safety and Health Management
We believe that safety and health are directly connected, which is why management is handled in an integrated manner. We establish criteria for promoting the health and physical integrity of our employees, in accordance with the legal regulations cited in Article 157 of the CLT.
Through anticipation, evaluation, and recognition, we aim to control workplace risks. Our focus is on early detection and diagnosis of health issues to which our employees may be exposed. With the help of risk mapping, PPRA, and PCMSO, we identify risks in terms of degree and type. This information allows us to manage our actions according to the various workstations in which we operate.
5. Ergonomics
The purpose of ergonomics is to adapt the work environment to employees, providing a comfortable space for maximum productivity, effectiveness, and efficiency.
The Organization applies all best ergonomic practices to ensure employee satisfaction. After all, having a pleasant work environment is essential for continuous innovation and other benefits, as promoting well-being is of utmost importance.
The Organization’s offices are fully equipped with the best ergonomic practices.
Below are the standards all employees must follow during activities:
- The chair must be adjusted to your height, with feet flat on the floor so that the knees form a 90º angle. If this is not possible, a footrest should be used.
- The backrest should be as straight as possible while remaining comfortable. Ideally, it should have a slight tilt. Incorrect backrest positioning can strain the spine, shoulders, and neck. The armrest should also be adjusted to align at a 90º angle.
- On the desk/table, arms should rest at a 90º angle. Mouse and keyboard should have supports to avoid overloading hand and arm joints, preventing potential RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury).
- Move every hour. In addition to maintaining correct posture at the workstation, those who sit or remain in the same position for long periods should develop the habit of standing up at least once every hour. This movement stimulates circulation and helps rest the eyes and relax muscles.
- The monitor/screen should be adjusted with appropriate lighting so the screen brightness is not too intense. This can cause discomfort such as dryness and eye irritation. Ideally, the screen should be 45 to 60 centimeters away, with the center aligned with eye level.
- Screen contrast should be more prominent than brightness. Monitor distance and height must also be checked. All workspaces must have adequate lighting—natural or artificial, general or supplementary—appropriate to the nature of the activity.
- General lighting should be evenly distributed.
- Lighting provided by lamps, fixtures, etc., should be designed and installed to avoid glare, uncomfortable reflections, shadows, and excessive contrasts.
6. Social Responsibility
Just as the Organization cares about the well-being of its employees, we are also committed to contributing through social actions. Each year, we participate in campaigns alongside our employees, raising awareness about the importance of intervening and contributing directly to society.
Our campaigns:
- SERUM Hematology – Blood donation
- ONG Amigos da Luz – Winter clothing drive
- Casa Ronald McDonald – Big Mac purchase, proceeds donated to children with cancer
- Casa da Criança – Daycare for underprivileged children. We participate in the Happy Christmas campaign, donating toys and supplies
Note: The blood donation campaign is not recurring; we mobilize donations only when someone is in need.
7. Communication
Communication channels are key allies in disseminating the SMS Policy. Through them, we share objectives, goals, and achieved results, as well as communicate with clients.
The channels are:
- Informative signs
- Internet (Website and Intranet)
- Electronic Display
- Orientation Process: internal and external
8. Infrastructure
The Organization’s Management ensures appropriate infrastructure for the proper execution of services and employee well-being.
Thus, it maintains the building structure properly air-conditioned, clean, organized, and safe, also providing resources deemed necessary for the execution of activities. We understand that the work environment is a combination of factors that positively influence employee motivation, satisfaction, and performance.
9. Senior Management Commitment
Senior Management understands the importance of this Policy and is committed to providing full conditions for the execution of all points described herein. It emphasizes the importance of employee support in its implementation. The Organization is open to suggestions and improvements and is committed to raising awareness so that, continuously, it can meet the legal and regulatory requirements related to this topic.
